Update to Treasury Check Verification System

The Treasury Department’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service is introducing a new payee name validation feature in its Treasury Check Verification System (TCVS) API on Monday, Nov. 18. The update follows regulatory changes made last year, which tightened liability standards for Treasury check returns.

The TCVS API is a tool designed to assist financial institutions in verifying Treasury checks. While it is accessible through both a secure API and a public-facing website, the new payee name validation feature will be available exclusively via the API, with no access through the website.
